About Us

Healing seldom takes place in a bubble or in isolation.  More often than not, to be in good health and a state of wellness, we require the help and support of a community of people, a village, a tribe.

In South Africa’s Babemba tribe, when a member of the tribe commits an irresponsible or unjust act, he is placed in the centre of the village, alone and unfettered. All work ceases, and every member of the village gathers in a large circle — man, woman, child.

Each person in the tribe speaks to the accused, one at a time, each recalling the good things the person in the centre of the circle has done in his lifetime. Every incident, every experience that can be recalled with any detail and accuracy, is recounted.  All his positive attributes, good deeds, strengths, and kindnesses are recited carefully and at length.  This tribal ceremony often lasts for several days.

At the end, the tribal circle is broken, a joyous celebration takes place, and the person is symbolically and literally welcomed back into the tribe.

The tribal ceremony described above is immortalized in Alice Walker’s book “We Are The Ones We Have Been Waiting For: Inner Light In A Time Of Darkness to illustrate the implications of interconnectedness and community.  As human beings our well-being depends on connection and community. If nothing else, COVID taught us this.

Ebony Wholistic Healing (EWH/Ebony) was founded in Toronto, Canada in 2023 with a view toward not just building a health and wellness practice; but a community, a village, a tribe. We are committed to honouring your journey and story, curating safe spaces for you to heal and grow, fostering a sense of belonging, and uplifting Africentric traditions. Our mission is to facilitate your sacred pilgrimage of liberation and reclamation through mindfulness, movement, and meditation sessions that are customized, comprehensive, and culturally-informed.

We understand that health and wellness are more than just the absence of illness and dis-ease. They are part of a continuum, a sacred journey that is reflected in personal, interpersonal, environmental, social, and spiritual harmony. At EWH, we facilitate your sacred journey, our sacred journey; and we are intentional about integrating aspects of our rich ancestral culture, heritage, and spirituality along the way. By fusing the traditional wisdom of Ubuntu, Sankofa, and Kwanzaa with the contemporary wisdom of lifestyle medicine, we are able to promote whole-person healing, resilience, and thriving, while supporting the embodiment of your highest, most harmonious and healed self.

At EWH, we walk alongside you on your wellness journey to co-create sustainable change and enhance (w)holistic wellness, self-determination, and empowerment. We believe that we are the ones we have been waiting for. So in every aspect of our community, we strive to foster a thriving, supportive environment that facilitates your overall wellness, and a whole-person approach that encompasses spirit, soul, mind, and body.

About Our Founder

Welcome to Ebony Wholistic Healing. I am Coach C.C.,  also known as “Empress C.C.” and affectionally referred to as “the Harriet Tubman of Professional Coaching”. My heart’s work is centered around creating empowering, culturally-affirming/responsive spaces for women to break generational cycles and recover from burnout, trauma, and mental health challenges.

I believe community is medicine, community well-being impacts personal well-being (and vice versa), and if you heal a woman, you heal a nation.

My unique approach to well-being is deeply rooted in the rich traditions of my Caribbean heritage, where (w)holistic health has long been a cultural cornerstone and art, food, and community are embraced as essential elements of health and wellness.

A certified Meditation Practitioner/Facilitator, Mental Health Coach, wellness advocate, member of the Black Healthcare Professionals Network (BHPN) and lifelong learner, I bring lived experience and a profound and multifaceted understanding of health to my work.

My journey into (w)holistic health began as a provincially certified Intra-oral Dental Assistant, where I developed a passion for wellness and service. This passion evolved into a career as a cardiac in-patient Unit Coordinator at one of Canada’s leading hospitals, a role I held for nearly two decades until a workplace experience caused me to pause and pivot, leading to a time of great healing and self-discovery. The COVID pandemic also marked a pivotal point professionally and personally, prompting me to deepen my commitment to wellness by pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Healthcare Management.

Responding to the mental health challenges amplified by the pandemic and heeding my spiritual calling, I transitioned from traditional sick-care to focus on meditation and (w)holistic health in 2023. That year, I also founded an international community for Black wellness professionals, providing a supportive space for high-achieving individuals to explore new dimensions of healing and personal transformation.

I envision a future where meditation is mainstream, access to (w)holistic health services is equitable, and health disparities are eliminated.

Combining my extensive education and experience with my empathetic nature and calm disposition helps me to embody the spirit of “ubuntu” and create community wherever I go.

Outside of my community service work, I enjoy spending time with loved ones and engaging with communities that align with my values.
